Hmm… I think you missed the overflow field Allan. Remember CTT limited to 120 so there’s a second lot. I think there were 166 finishers including the tandem riders… and there were four riders in the overflow who beat us.

We were possibly 9th and 10th which was still very good.

I’m no a hill climber but I’ve entered this. Go on everyone… it’s a local event organised by a local club and it’s easy access for most of us to train on. It would be good to see some FWCC entries supporting this event.

A good wee report Dougie and well done to all who took part. It was great to see Stevie on his Flying Scot… getting harder to make these old bikes fly Steve. Looking at the results and from my calculations Allan was 9th from 166 finishers. Fantastic ride Allan.

It was strange only having four riders when in the past we’ve had closer to 24. As Mikey said, hopefully more riders next year. The event raises money for various charities so definitely worth taking part.

10 seconds outside my course PB… I might have had it if I’d the good sense no to ride the Loans on Thursday night. The legs are getting too auld to recover in such a short period 🙄. Time we had some younger riders giving these events a crack and maybe we’ll see a return from our top TT rider young Darren… pretty certain you’d have been up for the win in today’s event Darren.

    Cheers, Gordon G.

I had a wee discussion with Dougie a couple of weeks ago about the pace being a bit quick on the Monday night rides and perhaps discouraging some riders. I’ve no been on many Monday night rides but it could maybe do with one of the stronger experienced guys looking after the slower group making sure they’re no racing to stay away from the faster groups.

Fine if you’re ripping it up in the fast group as you know that’s how it’s going to be but an easy, steady pace required for first group… nobody allowed in it if they’re obsessed by there average speed 😁.

Enjoy the ride. I’ll be doing 18 knots on the Minch … which is quite quick 🙄.

    Derek,

My pal big Alec from Darvel did a 100 mile ride a couple of weeks ago and keen to join us on Saturday. Are we ok for a guest? I’ll pick him up in and meet you down there if ok.

Hmm…I was going to bring the winter bike down and go steady with the slow group. Always happy to plod along.

If I’m in a fast group I’ll need my summer bike.

Is it going to be a shorts day? Decisions, decisions!

Hopefully everyone isny wanting in the slow group 😄.

The 40k Zwift tonight took a wee bit longer than I thought. 11 riders was a fairly decent turnout and the ‘Stay Together’ option seemed to work well.

Apologies for all the rubbish patter between my old Wallacehill pals and me… I think the glass tunnels under the sea got me onto the subject of the world’s only undersea roundabout in Faroe (worth googling)… having been to Faroe three times I thought it an interesting subject… but Joe disappeared from our ride and maybe got fed up with my chatter while he was focussing on his effort 🙄😁. Hope you were ok Joe.

On one of my trips to Faroe in the early 90s I watched an international football match between Faroe and Iceland… Faroe had not long since achieved there biggest result with a nil-nil against Austria. Of course, we could do with them taking something from Austria once again.

And that undersea tunnel and roundabout could have saved me a bit of effort back then when I cycled over 1000 foot climbs and through tunnels cut into the mountains between Torshavn and Klaksvik on my fully laden Muddy Fox mountain bike.

Anyway, good luck Scotland tomorrow night… and well done all who took part in GG’s Zwift tonight.

    Cheers, Gordon G.

Aye, you must have been putting in a big effort Derek 😄. We managed to reel Steve back in but Big Alec was a bit harder to catch (tells me his HR reached 183 in that final effort… getting a bit high for a 56 year old).

Hopefully everyone got some good exercise and we managed to keep the bunch together fairly well.

    Cheers, Gordon G.

Hmm! Zwift co-ordinator Mikey. Does it come with a salary? Perhaps a bag of Haribos or Liquorice
Allsorts… doesny need to be a full bag… maybe some that escaped the bag and you found in your back pocket or ones you found in the bottom of your kit bag and only slightly out of date. I’ll take the job… unless someone undercuts my pay demands…

    Cheers, Gordon G. 😄.
